Engineering Process & Systems Pipeline
How I take digital platforms from clinical and commercial constraints to production reliability.
Problem Constraints
Isolating user bottlenecks: Deaf patient communication at hospital desks, friction in mobile money checkout, and complex civic PDF data.
Schemas & Endpoints
Designing asynchronous Python FastAPI endpoints, WebSocket event brokers, and database schemas across PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
Gateways & Streams
Connecting Safaricom Daraja STK Push callbacks, streaming OpenAI Whisper ASR speech tokens, and routing Africa's Talking SMS alerts.
Hardening & Latency
Sub-second latency profiling (<350ms), idempotent financial transaction logging, race condition handling, and touch responsiveness.
Deployment & Ops
Containerized Docker services, Nginx reverse proxy routing, Vercel frontend deployments, and active production health probes.
Technical Arsenal & Implemented Stack
Technologies and frameworks hardened across active repositories and client deployments.
Building Practical Digital Platforms for Real World Demands
I am a software engineer based in Nairobi, Kenya. My work concentrates on building reliable software platforms that address practical infrastructure needs in healthcare, local commerce, and civic administration.
My backend work focuses on asynchronous Python (FastAPI, asyncio), real-time WebSocket communication, and message queues (Celery/Redis) paired with PostgreSQL and MongoDB. Cloud infrastructure and deployment pipelines are built using Microsoft Azure (App Service, Blob Storage, Functions) and containerized Docker environments. On the frontend, I build responsive user interfaces using TypeScript, React 18, and Vite, prioritizing clean component design, accessibility (WCAG), and offline-friendly data handling.
For commercial platforms, I implement automated payment workflows including Safaricom M-Pesa (Daraja API STK Push and callback reconciliation) and Stripe, ensuring reliable transaction records and instant receipting.
